Repent, ask God’s forgiveness, and then go and do what Christ commands. Refusal to forgive is a decision for vengeance. It is taking vengeance into your own hands. Joseph carried the logic of personal vengeance to its logical conclusion when, in response to his father’s supposed plea for forgiveness, he said, “Don’t be afraid; am I in God’s place?” (Gen. 50:19)
